The clients required a facility to house an Endless Pool and a gym to complement an existing garden bar in their converted garage. Although they initially considered two separate buildings, a unified approach proved superior for both space and budget. We coordinated the entire process through our network of Bakers Trusted Partners to ensure a seamless turnkey experience. Groundworks were expertly managed by Tom Manville and the team at TJM Contractors Ltd, who prepared the area and managed the discovery of undocumented pipework during excavation.
A primary challenge involved the plumbing for the requested toilet, as connecting to the mains water and waste at the front of the property would cost in excess of £30,000. To resolve this, we implemented a high-quality cassette solution with a specialised basin from Custom Basins. This allowed us to bypass the need for extensive groundworks while maintaining full functionality.
The 6.3m by 4.8m footprint provides ample room for the 14ft x 7ft Endless Pool, supplied and installed by Home Counties: Pools & Hot Tubs. Positioning the building more than two metres from the boundary permitted an increased internal height, rising from 2.5 metres to nearly 3 metres at the apex. We applied our standard wet leisure upgrades to the interior construction to handle the specific humidity requirements.
The layout includes sufficient zones for several pieces of gym equipment, including cycling and running machines, alongside an IP65 rated television housed within a custom moisture-resistant mirrored unit. The detached toilet room features a Dyson hand dryer, towel rail, and electric fan, ensuring the cassette solution offers a user experience comparable to a standard bathroom.
To achieve a modern aesthetic, the design incorporates aluminium French doors and UPVC windows finished in Anthracite RAL 7016. We colour-matched these elements with our MTX cladding on the front and side elevations for a uniform appearance. The rear wall utilises our cement wall product; while the distance from the boundary made this optional for fire regulations, its inclusion contributes to a completely maintenance-free solution.
All fascias and trims also feature the MTX finish, which comes with our 50-year guarantee, ensuring the building retains its quality appearance over time without the need for painting or treatment.
This project demonstrates that a single, well-planned 30 square metre building allows for a complete garden gym & endless pool suite while avoiding the disruption of a house extension. It provides a cohesive space for health and relaxation just steps from the main house.
